Ultimately Disappointed - an in-depth review
I have for a very long time wanted to have a hand held NES and compared to other systems I've seen advertised this looks to be a good system, however I feel that the system falls short of its potential.
I think it's great that the system has the ability to function as a normal Nintendo would by hooking up to your TV. The system comes with all the cables you would need for doing so and I was very excited to find this out. Unfortunately this is not the reason I purchased the system.
The biggest flaw that I have found with the system is that the depth of the cartridge port that makes the contact with the game is very shallow. I have some very old games with contacts that have started to wear. Because of how shallow the port is some of my games won't even load.
The screen size is very small. The 2.5" LCD screen is very clear for its size but if you're going to play any games with text you may have a hard time reading anything that you are not familiar with.
Because the NES cartridge only goes into the system a little over an inch there is plenty of room for the game to shake and rattle around causing the game to crash. There is a bay cover that can help hold the cartridge in place but mine broke off with in the first few days of use.
A great system
I honestly don't know what everyone is complaining about. This little handheld is fantastic. The games don't crash because they can move around. I have rarely if ever experienced any crashes. In fact I just played Megaman 2 all the way through the other night. Furthermore, the battery life is fantastic. The system itself takes four double A batteries which last at least 8-10 hours, comparable to the battery life of the original game boy, which is fantastic considering the screen is backlit. The controls are spot on, and even better than the original NES and better than emulation on the Nintendo Wii. Considering you can easily hook up and play this game on any TV and play using wireless controllers, for $60 this system is a great bargain.
Crapola
NES carts are nearly 25 years old and the FC Mobile 2 should realize that. There is way too much wiggle room with the cartridge slot, so games are frequently cut short when the pins lose connection.
I didn't care about the gun and the two wireless remotes...
I thought this would be great, but I ended-up returning it because it's pretty much worthless. You'd be better off buying a portable dvd player and hooking it up to an original NES.
