For a limited time handheld gamers can experience the perfect introduction to the DSi, the recently released feature-heavy version of Nintendo's best-selling DS portable video game system, with the DSi Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story bundle. Consisting of a classic white version of the DSi, bundled with the outrageous third title in the Mario & Luigi game franchise, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, this bundle is a must-have for new and longtime fans of both the DS gaming platform and the Mario & Luigi series.
Get ready to get your game on like never before, as this season Nintendo offers handheld gamers a fresh and downright outrageous way to discover the DSi, the lastest base addition to the top-selling Nintendo DS family of handheld game systems. Starting April 25, 2010, the classic white version of the Nintendo DSi system is available bundled with a copy of the wildly imaginative Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story game. The result is Nintendo's most advanced base handheld hardware system to date, complete with advanced camera and audio functionality, built-in browser capabilities,* expanded memory and download capabilities and much more, bundled with the latest release in the popular Mario & Luigi franchise. DSi Features One of the most powerful and interactive features of the Nintendo DSi system are its two digital cameras - one situated on the external body pointing away from the user, and the second pointing at the user when the device is flipped open. The DSi's cameras feature 10 different interactive "lenses" that can manipulate your photos, offering an easy way to take and share your photos with family and friends. The cameras also present players with unprecedented ways to interact with their gamesfor example the ability to import images into select gamesand in the process provide developers with a new tool to devise more creative, interactive games and experiences. If the touch screen gave Nintendo DS a sense of feel and the microphone allowed it to hear, the two cameras and enlarged screens of the Nintendo DSi provide the sense of sight. The DSi features the Nintendo DSi Sound application, which serves as both an interactive voice recorder and music player** that allows users to play with their music while they listen to it. Users can access different audio filters or control the pitch and speed of recorded voice or music files to alter voices or change the tempo of a song. The DSi microphone is conveniently located between the two screens when the device is flipped open, and there is also a stereo headphone output that lets users listen to music saved on an SD cards (sold separately), even with the screen shut. The DSi offers players a wide range of handheld gaming options and applications. To begin with, the DSi can play most of the DS and DSi games published to date and going forward, giving players access to a library of literally many hundreds of games. Then there is DSiWare. Featuring the most relevant and fun on-the-go games and applications the Nintendo DSiWare application allows users to populate their DSi with software that can be downloaded directly to the portable system using Nintendo DSi Points, just as is done with WiiWare and Nintendo's Wii console. Developers big and small are invited to create software that makes use of the properties and functions of the hardware. Nintendo DSiWare games and applications are available at a range of values, starting at 200 points, equal to just a few dollars. The DSi is a true wireless powerhouse. With features including IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi with enhanced security (WPA), the built-in DSi browser for connectivity to the Internet and a wireless range of 30 to 100 feet for DS Download play. Depending on circumstances, this functionality allows multiple users to play multiplayer games locally or over the Internet* using just one Nintendo DS, or DSi game card (region locked), depending on the software. Users also have the ability to connect to Nintendo’s wireless gaming network and to download demo versions of Nintendo DS and Nintendo DSi games from DS Download Stations, the Nintendo Zone, or via the Nintendo Channel of the Wii console. Finally, the DSi connects players to friends through a unique blend of pictures and words. This is done with the embedded PictoChat software, which allows users to draw pictures and/or write out messages that can be passed between up to 16 users within local range of one another over a Nintendo Wi-Fi connection. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story A single player action RPG (Role-playing Game), Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story takes players on the DSi literally into the belly of the beast - that beast being Mario's nemesis Bowser. Set within an off-the-wall storyline that turns the world of Nintendo on its ear and featuring the ability to toggle between playing as the team of Mario and Luigi, and playing as Bowser himself, this third installment of the Mario & Luigi franchise is not to be missed. The story of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is an atypical one in the world of Mario & Luigi in that the two plumbers team up with Bowser for the good of the Mushroom Kingdom, even if Bowser is totally unaware of it. As the game opens the Mushroom Kingdom is seen to have been struck by a sort of infection known as "The Blorbs," and exposure to it has caused out of control physical ballooning of the Toads. A council of the who's who in the Kingdom, including Mario and Peach, is assembled to try and figure out what to do about it, when right on queue, in barges Bowser, intent on dragging away Peach. He is stopped and shown the door by Mario, but later is tricked by the villain Fawful to eat a "Lucky Mushroom." Brainwashed by this, he returns to the council where the mushroom causes all the council to shrink to a tiny size and Bowser to literally inhale them. Fawful and his henchmen then set about taking over all of the Mushroom Kingdom, even the parts that Bowser has staked a claim to. Nobody, except maybe Mario, takes what is Bowser's, so there is going to be trouble. Although now very small, Mario realizes a few things. Peach, as usual, has gone missing, Bowser and he are on the same side in this fight and that Bowser will need help. How will Mario save the day this time? That's up to you. Gameplay A single player action RPG, action in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is split between the player-controlled team of Mario and Luigi, trapped in Bowser's stomach, and Bowser himself. These play out as two separate paths of action, constantly overlapping, which players can toggle between and engage in. As they do so players see that Bowser's actions on the outside affect the conditions for Mario and Luigi in his stomach, and the actions of the plumbers can add or subtract from Bowser's abilities. Examples of this are the good and bad things that Bowser swallows that the Bros. must deal with, and conversely the toll an illness that the Bros. can affect has on Bowser's physical abilities. Players can see this link for themselves when at times during the game Mario and Luigi are shown on the lower DS screen, while simultaneously Bowser moves in real-time on the top screen. Again, these two paths lead to the same place, the defeat of Fawful. The challenges that players face in doing this is the basis for the RPG gameplay, with players gaining experience points in the challenges that they face, which can be used to level up character-specific fighting and other abilities and even buy in-game gear. Additional gameplay includes puzzle-solving, searching for hidden items, mini-games and more, engaged in as the team of Mario and Luigi, and Bowser on his own. Key Game Features * Wireless broadband access required for Web browsing and online play of games. ** Music playable in AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) file format only. SD card (sold separately) required. Song/sound files from an SD Card that have been manipulated are not saved. |
