A Fun Game Kids Can Play Alone or with an Adult5
Smart Kid's Party Fun Pak is a great game for girls and boys. It's like two games in one. One set of games is for girls and the other set is for boys. But if your child is like my niece, they'll enjoy playing all of the games no matter their gender.

There are 36 mini-games in this collection. Believe me, this game will keep your child busy until you decide they've played long enough. You'll have to explain the games at first. But after one or two plays, the child should be able to play alone just be looking at the graphics. Even if they can't read, most of the games are easy to figure out after one play.

The games here are fun and educational. For instance, connect the dots teaches counting. The coloring book helps learn colors. Spot the difference focuses on concentration. Ladder game strengthens logic skills. And so on.

Another great game for the 3-5 set.5
This is a release that includes two other new games, Smart Girl's: Party Game and Smart Boy's: Toy ClubSmart Boy's: Toy Club. For an extra $[...] over the cost of one, you get them both!

There is a strange interface tack-on at the beginning that lets you choose either the girl or boy games - but you can't go back. You will have to turn the game on and off to go back to the first screen to choose the other set of games. Odd.

My 4 year-old-girl is familiar with the games in Smart Kid's: Gameclub, and she was able to figure out how to play almost all the games on her own. She likes the girl and boy games, just as she liked both of them in Gameclub. Some of the new games are more difficult and require more hand-eye coordination, like the claw game and the hoop throw. She still works at these, but seems to enjoy the challenge.

Unlike the first set (Gameclub), some things will save on this game, like the fastest race time.

On the downside, some of these games are impossible and annoying, like the connect the dots game that is impossible (even for mom) to complete without an "eeeeeenh".

In general, though, this is a great value. You won't find many other games out there for this age group that please your munchkins more than this series. I keep my DS with this game, Gameclub, and one of the storybook games in my purse for those slow, fidgety periods. You know, like when you go out to eat with your sweetie and munchkin, and the munchkin eats her dinner in 3 bites, is full and bored and ready to go RIGHT NOW, but you haven't even finished your salad.

Great game for little ones especially non-readers!5
I looked at all of the Smart Kid's games. This one has all the games on it (for boys and girls). My daughters (4 and 3) both love it and can play it without any (or very little help). They play the boy or girl games. I definitely recommend it.

A fun collection of games for 3-5 non-readers!5
We've been big fans of this series of games since the first one came out when my munchkin was 2, Smart Kid's: Gameclub [sorry, no Amazon link available]. Last year we got Smart Kid's: Party Fun Pak and even though some of the games were the same or similar, it was overall another hit. This year's release will also please your 3-5 year old. It combines the games found on Smart Girls Playhouse 2 and Smart Boys Game Room 2 for a total of 32 games - though I can't understand why anyone would buy one of these games when you can spend a little more and get both on one cartridge. Boys and girls will play almost all of these games with equal interest.

Your kid can't read? No matter, these games don't require reading or much parental help at all, besides pointing out how to finish a game or what button to click to go back. (Note to Tommo - some idiographic icons would be a better choice than squares with labels. Is it that hard to make an arrow to go back or next?)

Other games your 3-5 year old might enjoy:
The holiday special games - fun if you can get them on sale or rent them (as we did). The Girls' Winter Wonderland was a hit on the airplane to Grandma's house for Christmas.
    Smart Girl's: Winter Wonderland
    Smart Boy's: Winter Wonderland

Current games that are also keeping my 5 year old interested:
The Wonder Pets!: Save the Animals
    The Backyardigans

And older games that she just won't stop playing (please, make the repetitive, catchy music stop replaying in my head!):
My Little Pony: Pinkie Pie's Party
Littlest Pet Shop: Garden (PS: There are four games in this line - Garden, Winter, Jungle, Spring, but I think you can unlock all of these worlds in any game. The only difference is different "exclusive" pets that come with each game. Your non-reader will need a little help with this game.

my 3 kids really enjoy this game5
Got this game for my daughter who is 3 years old because other games are just too complicated for her right now. We have the SmartGirls games also so I knew she would be able to play this one since it's from the same company. She loves playing it because it's just her size, but suprisingly enough my 5 year old daughter and my 7 year old son enjoy playing it too.

    GREAT GAME FOR A 3 YEAR OLD5
I PURCHASED THIS GAME FOR MY THREE YEAR OLD
NEPHEW. HE LOVES IT! IT IS EASY FOR HIM TO
PLAY. HE IS ABLE TO PLAY THE GAMES INDEPENDENTLY
AND DOES NOT GET FRUSTRATED TRYING TO PLAY.
SUPER GAME FOR A YOUNG CHILD. MANY GAME CHOICES
TO PLAY. RECOMMEND THIS GAME FOR A YOUNG CHILD.

    Love It!5
This game is well worth the $$. With over 105 games (who knew there were that many?) you will never get bored. I was addicted to Spider Solitaire on the PC and now I can play that on the go. So many variations of games! When you click on a game it will show you the layout and the skill level and your chances of winning.
Forget brain games, this works at keeping your mind strong. I highly recommend this one!

    (1/2 star) hoping for better......3
I tried this solitaire collection while waiting to get a copy of "Clubhouse Games." I'm 61; female; never played video games in my life & never have been at all interested. My grown sons guffawed at my Nintendo DS purchase. In my defense, I bought it for Brain Age 1&2.... And then thought it would be perfect for long trans-con flights - - if I could find some "adult" kinds of games that didn't involve blowing up cars or hopping across rivers & avoiding alligators.

I was sure that SO would be the answer. It would have a gazillion different solitaire games! Hot doggies! This would be the entire family of the famous game we all play while on telephone hold, right?

    Well, sort of.

    This software is just ok.

SO suffers most from lack of instructions, which I feel are important, especially since solitaire games are very similar to each other. I finally got out my Hoyle book and another card game book for instructions on how to play these games! (There are no instructions in the dox. Altho there are some onboard for each game, they're pretty obscure. As I said, I got out my Hoyle to help me understand the onboard directions! Really, now, one shouldn't have to consult another source to play the game. Really lacking on the consumer support!)

I'd like to be able to search by game type, but this does not appear to be possible, despite the "search" feature.

"Slider" down R side of screen is so sensitive as to be almost uncontrollable. (If you hate shopping carts that won't steer, you'll hate this failure, too!)

Positives: User may change wallpapers, choose music (including a shuffle option), and change card reverse pic. Resolution is sharp in the wallpapers. The cards themselves are a little hard to read, but it's a very small image!

Still and all, there are a lot of negatives, so I decided to keep looking.

Stop here if you don't want to read about the game I found and love!

    - -

As long as I was hunting again, I decided I wanted something that had more game variety than just solitaire card games (which is why CG had looked so attractive).

If I had known about "TouchMaster," I wouldn't have bothered with SO at all!

TM has plenty of games for the solo player, including several card solitaires. In addition to very good, concise on-screen instructions, there are instructions for each game in the liner notes in the case (yea!) that are well-written and lucid.

Has a wheel-of-fortune type (this has only 6 categories, alas, so repetition happens pretty quickly), word search, etc. Several card games will help you brush up your 11, 13, and 21 addition facts. Some games are strictly chance; others involve varying amounts of skill and strategy. You can read elsewhere in detail about the content.

All games are stylus-activated. A big plus.

I must have spent 6 hours with this software tonight. (Yes, I should have been grinding on my lengthy to-do list, but I just couldn't resist. I'll probably play some more after I finish this review!)

    - -

Forget SO. Use your $ for TM. You won't be sorry you passed on SO. Compared to TM, SO is a non-starter. (I can't get the "star" rating to change to a star. What I'd really like is 1/2 a star!) mb

This product was given as a gift to my wife. She played the game on our way to see family on Christmas day. She had fun figuring out how to play and she like the challenge. I am well pleased with the game.

Classic Racing Game for Children and Adults, excellent!5
Sonic Sega All Stars racing is definitely an updated version of Mario Kart. Graphics are great, it has the same concept as Mario Kart; trying to hit bonuses to help you get into the lead. I think children will love the Sonic characters involved, and the fun tracks. Much faster than Mario Kart, which takes some practice and getting used to. I give it 5 stars, as it's a game that can be enjoyed by all.

Excellent Racing Game according to my 7 year old5
We bought this yesterday for my 7 year old and he is helping me with this review. Since getting it, he has played it for MANY hours and really loves it. He loves Mario Kart too, but is enjoying the change of characters and the fact that the races are faster than Mario Kart. He really loves earning money to buy additional players, racing tracks and music. It's great to see him enjoy it so much!

    Sonic Sega All Stars Racing5
My nine-year-old son loves this game. It is more fun than MarioKart. He enjoys the racing action and the characters. Once he starts playing, it's difficult to get him to stop. It's worth the money. You can't go wrong.

A nearly perfect port of Sonic's classic adventures5
Though Sonic's original Genesis adventures have been packaged together numerous times in the past, this is the first time that these classic platformers have all been in the same place on a handheld system. With Sonic the Hedgehog 4 launching later this year, no doubt many Sonic fans will be wanting to revisit the original games, and Sonic Classic Collection provides a fantastic way to do so on the go.

Included in the collection are Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Sonic & Knuckles. In addition, the two lock-on versions of Sonic 2 and 3 are included, so one can play as Knuckles in those games as well, which is a welcome inclusion. Sadly, the multiplayer player modes have been stripped out of all the games. Admittedly, multiplayer was never a major focus in the original Sonic games, but not even being able to have someone jump in as Tails in Sonic 2 is a bit disappointing.

Another frequently asked question is whether or not the original level select codes work. The answer, sadly, is no. It would seem that, while the codes can in fact still be activated, there is no way to access the level select menus themselves after doing so. This might be a deal breaker for certain fans, but it's an omission that many likely won't care about.

As for the classic games themselves, things are fairly solid. It must be said that the ports are not perfect. Framerate issues are present. It has to be said because they are there. However, they are very slight and after playing for a minute or two, they become nearly unnoticeable. Sonic 1 seems to chug the most for some reason. Overall, the games run fast and smooth, which is a vast improvement over the disaster that was Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis.

In order to make the games fit on the screen, SEGA had to mess with the graphics. They use two solutions in game. First, the view has been cropped in a little, allowing it to scroll side to side slightly to frame a good view. Second, similar to the Classic NES series on the GBA, every few lines of pixels have been removed, causing all the graphics to appear slightly shorter. It's subtle, and a few distortions are visible, but when running at full speed, the compromises are nearly unnoticeable.

The sounds and music made the jump to DS just fine. Music sounds nearly spot on to the original Genesis titles, with only slight subtle differences appearing in a couple of songs. Sound effects are quiet faithful as well, but like the music, tiny oddities sometimes occur. Occasionally a sound effect will loop in an odd way that doesn't quite match the original. Overall, the games still sound like themselves, and only the pickiest of fans will notice the changes.

Beyond the actual games, Sonic Classic Collection is a bit sparse on extra features. It features a small photo gallery where artwork of Sonic characters can be viewed. This is somewhat interesting, but really is only worth looking at once. Beyond that, it's just the classic games and that's all. All the games have now been fitted with individual save functions, which is very handy. Oddly, all the menu buttons are mapped to the touch screen alone, so pausing and saving must done there, and the start button does nothing. This is not a big issue, but it takes a little getting used to, since the start button is nearly universally used for pausing.

Overall, Sonic's original adventures are lengthy and diverse, and having them all on one cart means getting some serious bang for your buck. Are they absolutely perfect representations? No. However, the problems are so slight that many likely won't even notice or care. If you're a classic Sonic fan looking for a portable fix, or if you've never had a chance to play these games and see why Sonic is so famous today, Sonic Classic Collection could not be more highly recommended.

    About time!4
It's finally nice to see these games released on a handheld that replicates the original SEGA Genesis perfectly. This collection includes the games Sonic 1, 2, 3, Sonic & Knuckles with their respective lock-on games as well. The original music is retained.

They did make a few changes which did tick me off:

    1. The original multiplayer feature in Sonic 2, 3 and in the lock-on have been disabled.
    2. In order to pause the game, you must select pause on the touch screen (can't use debug or cheats).
    3. You cannot custom configure the buttons.

Aside from these problems, this is a great port for a portable system (much better than that Sonic The Hedgehog Genesis for Gameboy Advance, which was horrible!). If you wanna take classic Sonic on the go, this game won't let you down.

Needs Sonic Spinball instead of Sonic 3 Without Knuckles5
After the failed attempt to bring The Sega Genesis Sonic classic in 2006 on Game Boy Advance with Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis, Sega finally got it right with Sonic classics collection for the DS.
Unlike Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis, The graphics stay unmodified and stay true to the original game. However there are 2 modifications, which aren't that big of a deal.

    A. In the originals, When you got the Running Sneaker prize box, The music would play at a faster speed. Now, it's also at a higher pitch.
    B. No 2 player options in Sonic 2 or sonic 3
AT least with this release, the game play and graphics stay true to their original Format

    PROS
    1. Sonic 2 and 3 with Knuckles come pre-unlocked, where as in Sonic Mega Collection Plus, you have to unlock them.
    2. Save feature. Save, Exit out and start back up again
    3. Unmodified game play and graphics

    CONS
    1. Sonic 3 without Knuckles - This was not needed. See, On sonic 3 without, You can be Sonic and tails together or 1 or the other. With Knuckles, you still have them as an option - Knuckles is just a new 4th option. So to put both with and without Knuckles is kinda a waste when Sonic Spinball or the Blue Sphere mini-game should have taken Sonic 3's (Without Knuckles) place instead.

    2. Unlike Sonic Mega Collection Plus, it's only the Sonic Games from Sega Genesis and the save feature makes you start from the beginning of the stage. Where as for Sonic Mega Collection Plus, It comes with Sega Master System titles that got ported to Game Gear, extra unlockable games, Sonic Spinball and others. Plus on that, You start back up from the scene you exited out of.

    3. No 2 player options in Sonic 2 or sonic 3. They could have made it possible via DS download play
    4. Only the touch screen pauses the game - Kinda hard to get used to not pushing Start to pause.

With that being said, 4 Classic Sonic games on The DS, What more can you ask for?
