Good Started Kit for the DSi
I just purchased this, to go along with the DSi. While there is a little bit of filler, it gives you the essentials you need to get started with your DSi. Looking at all of the pieces, I would say:
*Screen Protectors: You get 2 sets of screen protectors for the top, bottom, and outside camera lens. I have used one set, and it is working great. Always good to have another set also.
*Stylus and Finger Stylus: Surprisingly, the finger tip stylus is kinda nice. You get 3, which adds to the filler, but you can actual use this. Not useless like I thought it would be. The other stylus are just filler, as you get a extra already when you get the DSi.
*Headphones: Nothing special. Nice to have if you want to use them just for the DSi.
*Splitter: Nice to have to this, or anything else. With the ability to play music back from an SD card, this can come in handy.
*Car Adapter: Nice to have, especially for playing on long road trips.
*Docking Station: I don't really use this, as I just plug it in to recharge. Not very useful in my opinion.
*Cleaning Cloth: Not that bad. Used it before putting on the screen protector.
*Wrist Strap: Not very useful.
*Case: Best part of the package. Can fit your DSi, extra stylus, and 4+ games at a time.
*4 Game Holders: I just keep my games in the case, so I don't use these.
Overall, a good buy at a good value to get started with your DSi, especially considering the other options that are out there.
Not Perfect, But Worth It
This is a 22 item set of 12 different products.
THE GOOD
- Screen Protectors (x2) - 5 Stars - The main reason why I bought the kit. The material is sturdy, and were sized nicely for each screen.
I however did not get a chance to really use them, because I wasn't careful enough in keeping dust and lint away while applying the bottom screen. Twice.
If I were to do it again, I would have made the attempt in the bathroom with the door and window shut (Away from pets, drafts, carpet, and dust). It's nice that they supply two sets for people who will actually learn from the first mistake.
- Lens Protector (x2) - 5 Stars - The package says it comes with one, but mine came with two. Made from the same material as the screen protectors. The first fit perfectly, but I managed to scratch it with my nails when trying to get out drop of water. The second one was slightly too large. But despite that, it's still very nice to have something protecting the lens.
- Earphones - 4 Stars - I don't expect much when it comes to headphones that come packaged in something like this. But not only did these work, they were very comfortable. More comfortable than some earphones I've purchased in the past.
- Docking Station - 5 Stars - Very elegantly designed. The DS stands straight up, hinge side down, conveniently leaving the headphone jack exposed if you want to listen to music while it's in the stand.
A centered, blue LED indicates if it's plugged in. (Adapter not included, so you'll most likely be use that came with the DSi). There is also a clear eject button on the right, which is rather unnecessary as it is easier to just pull it out.
If you don't use a permanent skin or shell on the DSi, this is a very nice place store it.
- Car Charger - 5 Stars - The cord is just under five feet, and it does what you expect.
THE BAD
- Travel Case - 3 Stars - The case has a sturdy feel, with the Icon logo in the lower right corner, a zipper, and climber's clip (The clip is already fraying the backpack-like loop that it's attached to). The inside has two elastic straps to hold the DSi, and the other half has a cargo net to hold accessories (The width fits three of the included game cases).
The problem with the case is that is a bit too tight. It holds down the shoulder button when the DSi is in place. I prefer the DSi System Wallet where you can easily slip it in and out. And after testing the case with my brother's DS Lite, I think the case is an excellent case for that system, rather than the DSi.
If you're looking for a great case, this certainly isn't the one I'd recommend, but the kit comes with a lot of other good accessories that can be stored in it.
- Wrist Strap - 1 Star - It the exact same wrist strap that you can buy for the Wii, but without the slider to tighten it. It makes sense in that the strap it too short to be tightened while playing the DSi... but without tightening it, if you drop the DSi, the strap will very likely not help.
I suppose if I wanted to go jogging while listening to music on it, it would be some help, but then I would prefer to also have the slider to tighten it.
Overall, it is a failure in design because it lacks design. It was meant for a Wiimote, and not the DSi.
THE NON-ESSENTIAL
- Stylus (x3) - 5 Stars - Each stylus is slightly larger than then ones that come with the DSi, and have a clear tip, rather than black. The default stylus feels loose when put away, these fit more snugly. The clear tip makes it easier to see, as some of the color from the screen passes through.
You're probably not buying the kit for extra styluses, but you'll appreciate having them.
- Thumb Stylus (x3) - 4 Stars - A useful alternative that may be superior to the normal stylus in certain games (such as Mario 64 and Metroid Hunters).
Since these aren't the most common product, and it costs a lot to get a single, but seemingly better designed, Thylus, it's nice that you get three.
- Audio Splitter - 5 Stars - It does what it's supposed to do. Don't need it, but can't complain.
- Game Case (x4) - 3 Stars - If you have nowhere else to keep your games, I suppose these could be useful. Each case fits one game and one SD card.
- Cleaning Cloth - 4 Stars - It's a cloth. It reminds me of the one that game with one of my old glasses case. And it's black, to match the DSi.
CONCLUSION
Considering that I'd be willing to pay $8 for the screen protectors alone, this Starter kit is definitely worth the price, unless you're primary need is for a good case for the DSi.
Decent quality, but incompatible with Silicone Skin protectors.
This kit is a good value for what you get. Even if you don't use everything, you'll use enough of it to justify the price. The docking station is convenient, though if you want to use that and have an AC adapter with your device when you are on the go, you may want to buy a second adapter.
The headphones are pretty decent for use with the DS and the styluses are obviously useful. The case is a tight fit and is fairly hard (it's not a soft pliable case).
One important thing I would point out is that if you use one of those silicone slip case protectors on your DS to protect it, you will not be able to use the docking station. The fit is just enough for the unencumbered DS to fit. Removing and replacing the silicone cover every time you dock it is clearly not an option, either. So before you buy this -- know that if you already are a user of the silicone covers, you'll have to give those up or dismiss the docking station element of this package.

Good Started Kit for the DSi

great protection and love the material
Although i never really trust the case that doesn't cover the whole ds, this cover is great for what it is for. I just love the material, it looks fancy in a way, or maybe because i always like the way the matte look.
Overall, it does what it needs to do, and for my dsi, and matches very pretty with the quality of the material. However, i do still put another case on top when i put it in a bag or when i store it somewhere else. The part that is not covered still might get scratched. If you want to use it as a protection from your hand (like getting darker or oily and such), this case is perfect, but not as storage for ur dsi, at least that's what i think. =)
Great protection for the price
Quick thing to note: Amazon states that this is for the DS Lite. I believe this case will ONLY work with the DSi. I believe that is a typo in Amazon's product features section.
I didn't see any reviews so I figured I would throw my comments out to the public. I bought the DSi Armor case about 3-4 months ago so I have been using it for a pretty long time and I must say it works really well.
PROS (+)
1) Smooth comfortable texture
2) Easy to "assemble"
3) Doesn't add much thickness to the DSi
4) Clear so you still see your original DSi's color
5) Protects and keeps you DSi clear of fingerprints, possible stains
CONS (-)
1) A little hard to hit L & R buttons at some times because of a piece of plastic surrounding the L & R buttons (you can see the plastic in the picture (little thin piece of plastic in upper right /upper left of the bottom part of the case). You can obviously still hit L & R but it does make it SLIGHTLY more difficult, nothing major (I don't know about you but I don't use L & R much in games so this doesn't really phase me, also my pointer fingers never usually rest on L & R when I play games, they rest on the back of case which feels awesome with this case).
2) Case can be a little jagged at areas and can hurt your hands a little depending on how you hold your DSi (NOT the back of the case but more the top of the sides of the case where your hands rest to reach the d-pad/ face buttons). In the picture of the product, these areas would be the lower left and lower right hand corners. I used a file to "sand down" some of the jagged spots on the case and it feels fine now in my hands. My hands typically hover and my palms don't usually rest on the DSi so I guess this could be a non-issue but just something I wanted to point out.
I was torn between this and the Armorstore case but I went with this one as I like that the stylus was accessible instead of having to go through the drawer. Personal preference I guess but just my thoughts. If anyone has any questions let me know. I know my cons might be hard to follow but with any kind of casing, it can be hard to describe and may differ from the size of your hands, and the way you hold your DSi.
Overall the case is a very nice case and highly recommended. Most of the issues with this case could be cons only depending on how you hold the DSi, but I would recommend it still as it works really well. Also, for those that wonder, yes it will still fit in the Dsi's protective sleeve that comes with the DSi when you first buy it. And yes, every part of the DSi is accessible with this case (SD card slot, stylus, headphone/volume, brightness, DS card slot, etc). If you have questions please leave comments on my review.

When it has honestly came down to protectors for Nintendo, Nerf has honestly made some of the softest and tighest grips that you could honestly imagine that works very well with the Nintendo Wii, and also with the Nintendo DS over the last few years. Now, they have done it again, this time for the regular Nintendo DSi. Their Nerf Starter Kit handles well, including with a tight grip securing the Nintendo DSi well, and the grip on the stylus is fost and comforable, and honestly it actually handles well with DSi. The system starter kit also includes a car charger that handles very well, and simply works well, but mostly handles in near comparison to the regular one that Nintendo has made. Fantastic product, but a tiny bit chubby
Oh, how I love game cases. I am a person who frequently drops the expensive things I own, and it's fantastic to have a bit of extra coverage just in case. I have the PlayThru Pocket from Logitech and the Theater case from Nyko with built-in battery for my PSP, and a case from Nyko for my old DS, but what about the new DSi? That's where the TekCase comes in. The TekCase is durable and hardy, and it doesn't feel cheap and plasticky like cheaper cases can feel. It has a slot for the camera to peek through, and to remove the stylus, there's a tiny switch you push up so it pops out the side. Very handy. It was pretty easy to put in; just pop the DSi into the lower half, snap down the power adapter in the back, and snap the system into the case. When it's in, it doesn't come out, although it can be a bit difficult to remove. It's fairly compact, but I hated that the power outlet in the back wasn't flush with the rest of the case, as it made the whole thing look a bit clumsily put together in portrait.
My favorite feature, though, is the battery. From a side view, one can see a tiny bit of extra girth on the bottom, where a slim battery is hiding. All you have to do is charge the DS through the slot the case adds on in the back (a garden-variety MiniUSB port, nothing proprietary, very nice touch) with the included charger. Also, since it's just USB, you can pop the cable out of the AC adapter and into your computer to supply the juice on the go. The battery TRIPLES the life of the DSi, which is very helpful, seeing as the battery life has been reduced from that of the DS Lite. It charges quickly, and includes very helpful LEDs on the side of the case to tell you about the charge status. The only thing that I didn't like about the battery is that it adds a bit of thickness and girth that made it difficult to pocket the device.
One other minor gripe: the bubble packaging. I wish the entire manufacturing industry would do away with this. I've actually avoided buying products that use it. It does nothing to discourage theft, and assumes that you, an innocent consumer (hopefully) are a thief, and you need to be stopped from opening something that you have purchased. It's even sillier for this product, since it's online only and not sold in stores. It's a minor gripe, but something that is a constant pain in the neck for me and many others. I greatly appreciate Amazon's steps to get rid of bubble packaging and reduce unnecessary waste.

Does the Job
My DS is really important to me so a while back I bought a plastic case. Low and behold I dropped it and it ended up breaking. Great. My DS was fine, but the case shattered, so I found myself something new. This has worked great for me so far, it doesn't mess up with my playing. It's hard and helpful, hasn't broken or shattered yet, and I've dropped it a few times. So far it's had great quality and I've very happy with it. This is a great way to insure the safety of your DS, so you don't have to worry.

Great idea for DSi!!!
Got this for my little brother for Christmas, and he loved it!! You can really tell the difference when using the telescope. My mother is a professional photographer as a side job, and my little brother was excited to be able to take pictures with a telescope that looks almost like hers on her cameras. Great idea for DSi!
